I've just put the first beta version of ezRETS out on CRT's web page.
Right now, we only have a windows binary out there, but that seems to be the
most useful to the most people. For those who would like to see the source,
the source is available via subversion. We hope to do a non-subversion
(i.e. a zip and tar file) source release next week.
You can download it by visiting
http://www.crt.realtors.org/projects/rets/ezrets/
Since this is a beta version, we know there are going to be bugs, so please
let us know so we can beat them back. We've currently tested fair well with
Excel and against the Variman RETS server.
Also, please be aware of the limitations in your SQL due to how RETS
behaves. You can read those in the README file that comes with ezRETS.
There is a rough first pass quick tutorial about how to use ezRETS with Excel at
http://www.crt.realtors.org/projects/rets/ezrets/documentation/ExcelTutorial/
Its also installed with the ezRETS distribution.
-- Reporting Bugs --
To report bugs, we need a few pieces of information: the MLS or RETS server
you were going against, the odbcrets.txt file, and a SQL.LOG. In this
release, odbcrets.txt is automatically created at C:\odbcrets.txt or
/tmp/odbcrets.txt depending on your platform.
On Windows, to create the SQL LOG,go into the "Data Sources (ODBC)" control
panel, click on the tracing tab, and click on Start Tracing Now. Now,
perform the actions that caused bad behavior. When you finish that, go back
to the control panel and turn off tracing.
To get that information to the developers, there are two ways you can do it:
1) Send e-mail to ezrets-users at crt.realtors.org with what you were
doing, and the two files listen above.
2) Or you can create a "trouble ticket" by visiting
http://code.crt.realtors.org/projects/ezrets/newticket If possible,
please search http://code.crt.realtors.org/projects/ezrets/report to
make sure your bug hasn't been reported already.
------
Any other questions, please let me know,
Keith
